On November 14, 2025, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the 2026 premiums, deductibles, and coinsurance amounts for the Medicare Part A and Part B programs and there are some important changes beneficiaries should be aware of.

The standard inpatient hospital deductible for Medicare Part A will be $1,736 in 2026

Medicare Part A is part of Original Medicare and covers anything related to hospital expenses (inpatient care:

  • Hospital Stays
  • Skilled Nursing Facility Care
  • Hospice Care
  • Some Home Health Care Services

**If you or your spouse have at least 40 quarters of Medicare-covered employment (approx. 99% of beneficiaries do), you do NOT have a Part A Premium**

The standard monthly premium for Medicare Part B will be $202.90 in 2026

Medicare Part B is part is also part of Original Medicare and covers medical expenses such as:

  • Doctor’s Visits
  • Durable Medical Equipment (DME)
  • Preventive Services
  • Outpatient Care (if you receive a service & are not staying there)

This premium is usually automatically deducted from your social security benefits or railroad retirement board. Once your deductible is met ($283 in 2026), you typically pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount for most doctor services.
