In the Medicare space, Annual Enrollment Period (AEP)  is one of the biggest events of the year. From October 15th to December 7th, Medicare beneficiaries are given the opportunity to review their coverage and decide on a plan for the next year. It’s an exciting time for the industry, but AEP can also be very stressful; making big decisions that could affect both the cost and quality of your health coverage is bound to make anyone a little frazzled.

At SBS, we’ve guided tens of thousands of people through AEP. We have nearly 50 years of experience with all things Medicare, so we’re prepared to give you the amazing client experience you deserve. Take it from us – here are some tips to make this year’s AEP as easy as can be!

  1. Read up on The Inflation Reduction Act. Signed into law in 2022, this legislation aims to adjust the existing structure for Medicare coverage and Prescription Drug Plans in an effort to improve results for beneficiaries. Many of the changes from the Inflation Reduction Act will not be enacted until 2025, which means that now is your chance to learn about the changes before they happen. 2. Beware of Medicare Scams. During AEP, fraudsters often target Medicare Beneficiaries to obtain their personal information such as their Medicare card number. As a general rule of thumb, Medicare will never call you asking for your personal information. To learn more about Medicare scams and how to protect yourself from them, click here.
  3. Schedule your annual review at your earliest convenience. To ensure that your needs are met and that you are on the right plan come 2025, please make sure that you’ve scheduled your annual review with us before December 7th. You can do this by contacting your licensed SBS agent or by contacting our Customer Service team at 1-800-627-2768. We’re so excited to help you!
  4. Prepare a list of prescriptions. Having a list of prescriptions with correct dosages, names, and frequencies on hand before your annual review will allow us to do the heavy lifting of researching the right plan before we sit down to discuss your options. Thank you so much for your cooperation!
  5. Rest Assured. During the Annual Enrollment Period, we typically see an increased volume of phone calls and appointments. We are eager to fulfill each of these requests with the attention and care they deserve, and as such, we kindly ask for your understanding and patience with longer hold and response times. Every one of you is a priority of ours and we promise your needs will be met as efficiently as possible!

AEP is a whirlwind of ads, news, and important life decisions every year. No matter what, we are committed to providing an excellent client experience. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
