If you enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan or a Prescription Drug Plan (Part D Plan)  during Medicare Open Enrollment, October 15- December 7, you may have a few questions. Here are some of the most common questions we have received from our clients over the past few weeks. If you have further questions, or want us to look at your situation specifically, please feel free to give our office a call, 1-800-627-2768. We are here to help you!

When will I receive my Insurance ID cards?

If you opted to enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan or Prescription Drug Plan, in most cases your coverage will start on January 1, 2021. Unfortunately, the companies that offer Medicare Advantage Plans and Prescription Drug Plans can be slow to distribute Insurance ID cards due to the large influx of business with Medicare Open Enrollment. But don’t worry! You will still be able to see your doctor,  visit the hospital or fill your prescriptions without your card (see below). You should expect to get your card within the first month of the year.

Will my doctor see me if I don’t have Insurance ID cards?

Yes! If you need to see your doctor,  go to the hospital or fill your prescriptions before you receive your card, they will still assist you. All they need is your Member ID Number. Before you go to the doctor or fill your prescriptions, please call our office to obtain your Member ID Number, as the hospital, doctor’s office or pharmacy will need this for billing purposes.

How can I ensure I have coverage?

If you enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan or Prescription Drug plan through Senior Benefit Services, your coverage will take effect January 1st of 2021. If you are unsure for any reason if your coverage has taken effect after that date, call our office at 1-800-627-2768 and we can check for you!

Can I see my doctor under my new Medicare Advantage Plan?

Medicare Advantage Plans have networks that can change yearly. If you are unsure whether your doctor remained in your network for 2021, please call your agent or our office before seeing your doctor.

What benefits do I have with my Medicare Advantage Plan?

At SBS we want you to be knowledgeable and confident in your coverage. If you are unsure of the benefits included in your Medicare Advantage Plan, reach out to your agent and they’ll be happy to review your plan with you!

Can I still fill my prescriptions even if I don’t have a new ID card?

If you haven’t received your new card for your Prescription Drug Coverage you can print a temporary card. If you have a MyMedicare Account you can print a temporary card. If you do not have a MyMedicare account, you can call our office, and we can access that information for you.

Is my Pharmacy still a preferred pharmacy?

If you aren’t sure if your pharmacy is your preferred pharmacy with your Prescription drug plan, feel free to call our office. We are happy to take a look at what pharmacies are in your network and if there are any cheaper options available to you.
