Annual Election Period (AEP) takes place from October 15th – December 7th of each year, and during this time, you have the opportunity to make revisions to your Medicare coverage. In fact, it is typically the only time of year that you are able to do so. This is extremely important to emphasize because with each new year, there are often changes that can occur to your plan(s).  Premium / copay increases,  doctors falling out of network, prescriptions no longer being covered, and plans being terminated in certain areas are just some of the ways in which your plan may be affected.

Believe it or not, we are already on the 2 week countdown for the end of AEP. Once December 7th hits, you will no longer be able to make any switches to your Medicare coverage until AEP of next year.  If you are reading this and have yet to sit down with an agent to review your options for 2019 – don’t panic… there is still time!

During AEP you are able to:

  • Enroll in a new prescription drug plan (Part D)
  • Switch from one Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C) to another
  • Change from a Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C) into a Medigap Plan with Original Medicare (Parts A & B)
  • Change from a Medigap Plan with Original Medicare (Parts A & B) into a Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C)

We have agents located all throughout the U.S. who can help you determine what steps to take for 2019, so that you remain in the right coverage for your needs. Call us today to schedule an appointment!

*As a side note, any changes you make during AEP will go into effect January 1, 2019.*
